Galata Tower (Galata Kulesi) is one of the oldest towers in the world and one of the landmarks in Turkey, Istanbul.

Galata Tower was used as a long-standing fire watchtower and was named Galata Fire Tower.
The tower was built by the Byzantine Emperor “Justinianus” in 507-508 AD and it was reconstructed in 1348-1349.
The tower was built again between 1445 and 1446, and it was damaged by an earthquake in the fifteenth century, and after that, it was repaired by the engineer Hayreddin.
After the tower was repaired during the era of Selim, a large window was added to the upper floor of the tower.

The building was restored again in 1967, and with its height of 63-meter, the tower offers a panoramic view of the old city.
